The year 2024 was a record year for onshore wind energy in Germany, as recently reported. However, excellent results can also be achieved with expertise in the topic of water. This is demonstrated by TZW's development and key figures over the past year.
Through laboratory and testing services as well as scientific consulting and research contracts, turnover rose again compared to the previous year to 24.8 million euros. Around 32,000 water samples were analysed and around 1,500 tests were carried out on materials and products. The number of employees also increased again to over 200. The RiskPlus software solution, which TZW developed together with Disy Informationssysteme GmbH and launched on the market in 2024, broke new ground.
The success with customers from the water supply sector shows that this is the right approach. Further digital products, for example for the water demand forecast, are already available.
TZW's review 2024 also provides an overview of the main priorities in the various fields of activity such as resource protection, environmental biotechnology, water analysis, micropollutants , microorganisms, wastewater and water cycle, testing of materials and devices, structural and technology concepts, asset management and infrastructure as well as digitalisation and management. Around 50 research projects run simultaneously at TZW each year. The projects completed in 2024 show the broad range of topics. They range from A for analysis methods for digital inspection data evaluation to W for water reuse for urban and agricultural irrigation.
