On 22 and 23 September 2025, the Board of the Global Water Research Coalition (GWRC) held its meeting at TZW in Karlsruhe. GWRC is a global network of leading water research institutions that promotes international exchange on current challenges in water management.

The GWRC regularly holds workshops and webinars to promote global knowledge transfer. The meeting at TZW focused on a workshop on the current topic of ‘Resilient Infrastructure’. In addition to valuable input from international partner countries, the focus was particularly on developments in Germany. Current research findings were examined, as well as specific measures at state level and by individual water suppliers. The project management agency Karlsruhe at KIT, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment, Stadtwerke Karlsruhe and Stadtwerke Rastatt provided insights into their findings, measures and implementation paths for the future.

On the second day, Dr Josef Klinger, Managing Director of TZW and member of the GWRC Board of Directors, and employees from individual TZW departments presented current research activities and solutions. These were discussed strategically among the international partners – a valuable impetus for global cooperation in water research and for the strategic orientation of TZW.
