Expansion of the Indo-German Centre of Competence for Riverbank Filtration

Sub-project: Disinfection concept for River Bank Filtrate (RBF)

The aim of the CCRBF joint project is to strengthen educational and research cooperation between Germany and India in the field of water management. The main focus is on the natural processes of Riverbank Filtration (RBF), Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) and Constructed Wetlands (CW).

The aim of the CCRBF joint project is to strengthen educational and research cooperation between Germany and India in the field of water management. The main focus is on the natural processes of riverbank filtration (RBF), managed aquifer recharge (MAR) and constructed wetlands (CW). This is to be achieved by expanding the Riverbank Filtration Network, which has existed since 2008, and the Indo-German Competence Centre for Riverbank Filtration, which was founded in 2011 as part of a BMBF project. The main result will be the establishment of the Competence Centre for Riverbank Filtration with headquarters in Dresden and Roorkee. The use of UF/GWA as a natural water treatment process and to increase the water supply, as well as CW for wastewater treatment has proven to be promising in India. A new aspect of the master plan will be the integration of decentralized wastewater disposal by means of CW (in cooperation with our partner FHP). The objectives of the sub-project are to develop a concept for disinfection and microbiological monitoring of UF-sockets. On the one hand the demonstration of innovative monitoring and measurement techniques at the Haridwar site in Northern India and on the other hand the transfer of knowledge for their application in workshops will be carried out.

The "INTERNATIONAL RIVERBANK FILTRATION CONFERENCE" will take place from 16 - 18 October 2023 in Dresden. Meet experts from Egypt, Brazil, China, Germany, India, the Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Vietnam and other countries and share your experiences with them. All those interested in the topic of riverbank filtration - both young and experienced engineers, students, researchers, project managers and decision-makers - are invited to participate. All information can be found here in the programme flyer.
