The expansion of TZW at its Karlsruhe location represents a significant step forward within the DVGW. Since 1 October 2025, the building at Karlsruher Straße 88 has officially belonged to the TZW – a significant step that creates new capacity for customized solutions for our clients, research and interdisciplinary cooperation.

The purchase agreement was notarised on 6 August 2025. With the acquisition of the new premises, TZW is strengthening its role as a centre of excellence for future-oriented topics in the water sector.

The additional space provides room for innovative projects and intensive exchange between science and practice. The expansion of the infrastructure paves the way for the strategic development of TZW, enabling it to shape the future successfully.

Exactly 30 years ago, in 1995, TZW moved into its current location in Karlsruhe (TZW Building I). Since its foundation in 1991, the TZW has continuously developed – with a clear focus on research and practical solutions for the water sector. As a centre of excellence for water, it has always adapted to technological change and created forward-looking framework conditions. In 2017 Building II was inaugurated at TZW's main location. The locations in Karlsruhe, Durlacher Wald and Dresden have also been expanded and developed in the past. If you would like to learn more about the history of TZW, you will find interesting insights in the TZW chronicle.
